Employee Sick Time - Show Concern Towards Your Employees

Working and getting busy in our daily schedules have become a part of our life. Continuous work and a hectic working environment may make your health suffer and make you feel stressed and sick. Employee sick time is basically a leave period granted to employees for rest and for the well being of their health. It's a company policy to grant paid sick leaves which workers can use for a temporary period and benefit.

Sick leave is an employee benefit provided by the company to maintain their health without the fear of losing their existing job. In almost all the places or working areas, it is a company policy. The sick time is codified by law. There are policies that allow workers or employees a paid time-off for their personal treatments and health consultations.

An employee sick time is a time where employee can be relieved from the job and routine work for a short period of time with approval based on the company policy for the benefit of his health. Most organizations use formulas that assign specific period or hours rather than making paid leaves for days together.

Benefits of Employee Sick Time/Leave to Workers

If suddenly a worker in an organization or company gets sick or falls ill, and he has to take leave that is recommended for his health, the company may ask him to stay back home and rest for few days considering the inability of the worker to contribute to the organization.

If the company does not provide the facility of sick leave, the employee is unable to take time out for treatment; this increases the chances of loss of company's human resources. Taking time out for treatments and illness has become a company policy and almost every company grants employee sick time so that the workers get a break from their hectic schedule and get well soon, to get back to work once again with renewed energy and vigor.

Considerations for Employee Sick Time

1. Different companies have different policies and rules regarding the grant of employee sick time and leaves and the company is always bound to follow the rules and regulations according to the policy.

2. There are companies that usually offer employees, as a part of their benefit plan, granting of medical leaves. This gives the employees an opportunity to rest at home during the period of illness without the loss of the employee jobs and wages.

3. If the employee is facing severe health issues or illness and wants to take a long leave, he can be granted sick time which exceeds the normal paid leaves and granted unpaid sick leaves as the company cannot give paid leaves for long periods. He may be eligible for the employment insurance sickness benefits.

4. Sick leaves may also comprise of maternity leave as it is considered a part of sick leave. If a lady works during pregnancy and if she faces severe health conditions, the company is wholly responsible for her severe illness and sickness. So maternity leave too can considered a part of employee sick time.

Analyzing The Different International Health Insurance Policies

Canvassing is a good way of qualifying an international health insurance policy. This is very crucial especially in these times of economic difficulties when people measure their expenses and try to save on money whenever possible.

It is recommended that you find out what are the provisions of the insurance policy given to you by your employer. Without the appropriate international health insurance could mean stellar costs in medical treatment for you and your family. There are certain aspects in analyzing policies for its price, coverage and services.

Although there are many insurance companies which provide international insurance coverage, it is wise to first check on the integrity and performance of the company, especially when you are traveling abroad and are not used to such service providers. It would be well worth your time to browse over endorsements of different companies and their regulations, including client referrals with satisfactory feedback. This would be good starting points in making a prudent analysis of your insurance company.

It would also be ideal for you to weigh the amount of insurance you need or desire, including the scope of services you will need when you are traveling abroad. The different health insurance companies give a wide array of coverage, from the simplest to the most comprehensive, and with this range of choices, it would be prudent to check and verify the different provisions included in a particular international travel health insurance policy.

There are basic policies which include limitations to medical treatments like consultations with a physician and the simple in-patient services and emergency care. While some companies offer maternity care as part of its basic services, other companies offer the same as additional coverage. Checking for the basic provisions of your international insurance policy would be most appropriate.

Insurance companies also offer additional policies to your basic insurance coverage. This enhances your benefits but at the same time adds up to your price tag. Additional services may include maternity care, prescriptions, substitute treatments, eye care, dental care, and outpatient treatment and services in the course of your travels abroad.

Comprehensive coverage can also be chosen by the discriminating people. While this may vary depending on the service provider and the location of the policy coverage, this international insurance package normally covers a whole range of medical treatments and services greater and more significant than the basic insurance package. This could include peripheral health services such as full dental services, dietary consultations, and wellness programs.

Additional considerations are worth checking, such as the policy coverage for different locations and destinations. Some services are not applicable in certain territories, so it would be wise to check on this matter. You should also check the coverage in terms of reimbursement of costs with regards to hospital room accommodations. The reimbursement amounts should also be considered in relation to the premiums to be paid, to verify if these are cost effective.

Folic Acid Can Help With Pregnancy

Needed for the formation of red blood cells and for energy production folic acid is also considered brain food. This nutrient is involved in protein metabolism. It has been used in the prevention and treatment of folic acid anemia. It functions as a coenzyme in RNA and DNA synthesis making it important for healthy cell division and replication. It makes our immunity stronger by assisting in the proper formation and functioning of white blood cells.

Folic acid may be effective in the treatment of uterine cervical dysplasia which is abnormal cells that may be found on the surface of the cervix. It may also help those who suffer with depression and anxiety.

Folic acid is very crucial during pregnancy. Studies have shown a daily intake of four hundred micrograms of folic acid in early pregnancy may prevent the vast majority of neural tube defects. This includes anencephaly and spina bifida. It helps to regulate fetal and embryonic nerve formation. It is also believed to help prevent premature births.

It is recommended by many experts that women of child bearing age take this supplement daily. Folic acid, to be effective, must begin before conception and continue for at least the first three months of pregnancy. Because of critical events in fetal development that occur during the first six weeks of pregnancy it may be too late if a woman waits until she is certain she is pregnant to begin a regime on the nutrient. This nutrient works at its best when it is taken in combination with vitamin C and vitamin B12.

An inadequate consumption of fresh vegetables and fruits and malabsorption problems can lead to a deficiency of folic acid. So can consuming only cooked vegetables or microwaved vegetables. Cooking vegetables destroys folic acid.

Signs of possible deficiency of this nutrient may include apathy, fatigue, graying hair, anemia, digestive disturbances, and growth impairment. Other possible signs include birth defects in offspring, weakness, paranoia, memory problems, insomnia and labored breathing. A red, sore tongue is also a sign of folic acid deficiency.

Alcohol can act as an opponent for the absorption of folic acid. Oral contraceptives may raise the need for the nutrient. If someone has a hormone related cancer or convulsive disorder they should not take high doses of folic acid.

Simple Steps To Help You Get Pregnant

As days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months the challenge of trying to get pregnant can become frustrating and emotional. The idea that it would be easy changes dramatically.

In our younger years we were told to not to have sex so as to avoid pregnancy and at that stage in your life while connecting the dots it seemed simple - just have sex and you will get pregnant.

So what can you do to get pregnant? If you have been trying for a while it is time to wipe the slate clean and start over. Forget all that you have gone through and start form scratch.

Take a little break and take your mind of it. In actual fact if there are support groups in your area you could discuss your challenge with others, as they say "a problem shared is a problem halved"

This may give you some new ideas that you never thought of or you may realize that you were doing something which was reducing your ability to get pregnant. Actually once you have done this and talked it over - then take a break because at this point it will be easier for you to relax since you now have a new plan of action.

In order for conception to take place you need a healthy sperm and a healthy egg. Both of you need to be eating healthy and exercising while avoiding foods that contain additives such as MSG and certain artificial colorings. Drink plenty of water and add supplements to your diet to get the nutritional balance you need.

Take some time out during the day to do some deep breathing exercises. While having sex do not use lubricants. After sex relax and stay lying down with your hips slightly elevated.

Observe changes that occur with your body in order to predict ovulation correctly. Do not have too much sex as this will reduce sperm count. Keep your sexual activity as close to ovulation as possible.

To conclude don't try too hard as this will lead to stress and don't be afraid to talk to people as relationship is the essence of life and you may just be missing a simple step that could make all the difference.

5 Ways Stress Kills Your Sex Drive

We are physical beings and healthy sexual desire presupposes a health body. For most of us, good sex occurs when our minds and bodies are working well and in harmony. Low sexual desire, just as falling out of love or losing interest in your work is not considered a disease. The majority of low sexual desires are not due to one identifiable cause. There are many physical problems as well as emotional and stress related factors that can affect your libido.

Sex, with its physical and emotional release, the boding and release of endorphins can be a great stress reliever. Yet the effects of stress will lower our libido thus causing sex to go by the wayside.

Here are five ways that stress causes decline in the sex drive.

1. Adrenal Glands are constantly on high alert. In other words, every challenge to the mind and body creates a demand upon these glands. Adrenal dysfunction is caused by emotional, environmental, and physical stress. When chronically overworked, the glands will strain to maintain high Cortisol levels and lose the ability to produce DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) in healthy, normal amounts. Cortisol enhances your body's natural resistance and endurance. In excess it will suppress the sex hormones and can lead to osteoporosis. DHEA mediates many of the unfavorable causes of excessive cortisol. It is a precursor for testosterone. DHEA improves energy, vitality, and mental clarity and helps the body recover from acute stress. When your adrenals are depleted, your cortisol and DHEA levels are out of balance. Adrenal functioning can be restored by diet and lifestyle change and addressing the extra stress occurring in your life.

2. Depression can cause insomnia, changes in appetite, and a feeling of worthlessness. Constantly feeling out of control, powerless and worthless can cause a decrease in libido. If you only treat the symptoms of depression and do not address the underlying cause, there will be no improvement in sexual desire.

Some antidepressants make it more difficult for men and women to reach orgasm. This common side effect can also affect the libido. If your antidepressant interferes with your sexual pleasure you may need to consult with your health care provider or make some changes in your sexual behavior.

3. Appetite, either through weight gain and a combined feeling of helplessness and worthlessness can affect libido. This can lead to a negative body image, or even through weight loss due to restricted eating. Research shows that the brain chemical Neuropeptide Y, which kicks into high gear in response to food deprivation, also undermines sex drive.

4. Hormones can be affected by stress thus reducing levels of testosterone, and sex drive. Hormonal fluctuations are a natural part of life such as changes due to menopause, menstrual cycle fluctuations, pregnancy, and the postpartum period. Hormonal changes within the male body can affect the quantity and quality of sperm. Excess stress during these times will compound the symptoms and can result in a lowered sex drive.

5. Sleep deprivation causes excess wear and strain on your body and brain often leaving you feeling slow, soft, and sick.

Men who experience breathing difficulties during normal sleep tend to experience low sex drive. "Sleep deprivation can increase your risk of erectile dysfunction," says Jon L. Pryor, a professor of urologic surgery at the University of Minnesota. That's because testosterone levels plummet when you don't get enough sleep, making it much tougher to get and sustain an erection. But you may be too tired to care, since low testosterone also triggers a drop in men's desire for sex.

Sleep deprivation will cause a decline in testosterone levels in women, which has a big impact on her desire for sex. If you are unable to sleep you may want to consult with you health care provider.

Although stress can not be avoided, it can be managed by exercise, healthy eating habits, and making a few changes in your lifestyle. If the symptoms of lowered sex drive continue after making lifestyle changes, please consult your healtcare provider for further help.

Overcome Infertility - Period Modification - What is a Normal Menstrual Cycle? In TCM Perspective

A normal menstrual cycle is normally from 28-35 days with no symptom, causing discomfort to a woman and excluding dull pain. Menstrual discharge is red and last from 3-5 days without spotting. Not all women with abnormal menstrual cycle are infertile, if you are diagnosed with the unexplained cause of infertility, then your abnormal menstrual cycle may be the cause. Traditional Chinese medicine always helps a woman to restore the normal menstrual cycle, before treating the underlined cause of infertility. Girls in southeast Asia has learnt early from grandmother wisdom that maintaining a normal menstrual cycle is the main objective for easy conception and any menstrual disorder should be look after immediately.

Depending on how the Chinese practitioner divides the menstrual cycle, it may be 4 or 5 phases.

I would like to make it easy for the reader, by dividing it to 4 phases (it is still the same).

I. Phase I - the yin phase (about 12 - 14 days)

At the beginning of the yin phase, yin surges (the rise of estrogen) that leads to the growth of fluids in the uterus that helps to moisten the uterus, and thicken the endometriosis to prepare the uterus for normal conception. The rise of yin also supports the production of blood and production of sperm friendly mucus for sperm invasion.

In conventional medicine, as estrogen rises, the brain signals the hypothalamus to secrete gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (FSH), which in turn stimulates the pituitary gland to produce the follicle stimulating hormone, thus initiating the growth and recruitment of immature follicles in the ovary.

II. Phase II - ovulation phase (about 4 days)

As the yin (estrogen) is at its peak, the liver triggers the start of the ovulation phase by extruding the mature follicles into the fallopian tube. In this phase, the uterus continues to produce sperm friendly mucus as qi and blood moves downward to warm the uterus and promotes the implantation of the egg.

III. Phase III - the yang or luteal phase (about 12 -14 days)

When the egg is extruded into the fallopian tube, the liver transforms yin energy to yang that triggers the yang (progesterone) phase. In this phase, blood and qi also move downward. The endometrial lining becomes softer to prepare for the implantation of the fertilized egg, if pregnancy occurs.

In conventional medicine, in this phase, corpus luteum starts to produce progesterone that triggers the softening of the endometrial lining for fertilized egg implantation.

IV. Phase IV- menstruation phase (about 3-5 days)

If there is no conception occurred, the yang drops. causing the shedding of the uterus lining. The menstrual discharge is bright red and profuse, and only lasts between 3 - 5 days (spotting does not count).

I will continue to provide you with more information which contribute to the causes of abnormal menstrual cycle, including what causes the prolonged and shortened in each phase, and how you can cure them. The aim of this series is to provide the information of which how you can modify your menstrual cycle for easy conception. I believe it is helpful for women whom are diagnosed with the unexplained cause of infertility with symptoms of menstruation disorders.
